Jianya Gong, a photogrammetric and remote sensing scientist. In 2011, he was elected as an academician of the CAS Member. He is now a professor and doctoral supervisor of the School of Remote Sensing Information Engineering of Wuhan University and the State Key Laboratory of Surveying, Mapping and Remote Sensing Information Engineering. Winner of the National Outstanding Youth Science Fund, Chief Scientist of the 973 Project, Academic Leader of the National Natural Science Foundation Innovation Group, Leading Talent of the National Bureau of Surveying and Mapping, Convenor of the Surveying and Mapping Discipline Group of the Sixth and Seventh Discipline Evaluation Groups of the State Council, former Chairman of the Sixth Committee of the International Society of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing, President of the China Overseas Geographical Information Science Society, and currently Secretary General of the Asian Geographical Information Systems Association, Deputy Editor in Chief of Journal of Geodesy and Geoinformation Science. We have undertaken over 40 national and provincial-level scientific research projects. Received 1 National Science and Technology Progress Innovation Team Award, 1 National Science and Technology Progress Award First Prize, 4 Second Prizes, 3 Provincial and Ministerial Special Prizes, 7 First Prizes, and 1 International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS) Dolezal Achievement Award. Published 13 monographs and textbooks, published over 500 papers, including over 100 SCI papers, and cited more than 20000 academic works. Guide over 120 master's students and over 70 doctoral students.
