The Intelligent Remote Sensing Open Source Ecological Alliance has been established, with Academician Gong Jianya serving as the chairman

22.November 2021

On December 18, 2021, the Ministry of Science and Technology of China organized the "National New Generation Artificial Intelligence Innovation and Development Pilot Work Promotion Symposium" and the 2021 East Lake International Artificial Intelligence Summit Forum with the theme of "Intelligence Leading Innovation in the Future" in Wuhan. At the symposium, the relevant person in charge of the Ministry of Science and Technology stated that the Wuhan Artificial Intelligence Computing Center will be used as a pilot to improve the construction of an open innovation platform for public computing power. The East Lake International Artificial Intelligence Summit solemnly announced the establishment of the Intelligent Remote Sensing Open Source Ecological Alliance.

It is reported that the Smart Remote Sensing Open Source Ecological Alliance was established under the guidance of the China Association of Remote Sensing Applications. It is an industrial alliance of the world's leading remote sensing universities and leading remote sensing enterprises. Gong Jianya, an academician of the CAS Member and president of the Institute of Aerospace Science and Technology of Wuhan University, served as the president, Jiao Licheng, a foreign academician of the European Academy of Sciences of Xi'an University of Electronic Science and Technology, and Zhang Bing, vice president of the Institute of Aerospace Information Innovation of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, served as the consultant, Leading enterprises in the field of intelligent remote sensing, including Aerospace Hongtu, 21st Century Space Technology Applications, Beijing Feidu Network Technology, and Beijing Chaotu Software, have joined.

The Intelligent Remote Sensing Open Source Ecological Alliance is a cross industry, open, and non-profit social organization voluntarily formed by domestic enterprises, institutions, social organizations, higher education institutions, research institutes, etc. related to the intelligent remote sensing industry on the basis of voluntary, equal, mutually beneficial, and cooperative efforts. The purpose of establishing this alliance is to build a high-quality communication platform between the government, users, enterprises, research institutes, and higher education institutions. With the effective integration of resources from all parties, by building information exchange platforms, public technology service platforms, and industrial service platforms, we can promote communication and deep cooperation among relevant entities in the field of intelligent remote sensing industry, promote supply-demand docking and knowledge sharing, and form complementary advantages. This has constructive significance for promoting the progress of remote sensing technology in China, enhancing the core competitiveness of industrial clusters, and enhancing the independent innovation ability of enterprises.

At present, Wuhan University is undertaking the National Natural Science Foundation of China's major research program integration project "Construction of Large scale Remote Sensing Image Sample Library and Research on Open Source Remote Sensing Deep Network Framework Model", led by Professor Hu Xiangyun from the School of Remote Sensing Information Engineering. This project develops the world's first open-source remote sensing image intelligent interpretation machine learning dedicated framework, LuoJiaNET, and constructs the largest remote sensing image sample library in the industry, LuoJiaSET. Its series of achievements will lay a technical foundation for the verification of new theories, technologies, and achievements in remote sensing intelligent interpretation, and provide technical, platform, and application support for the Intelligent Remote Sensing Open Source Ecological Alliance.
